KS stands with Ukraine

"On behalf of KS and all Norwegian municipalities and regions, I would like to congratulate the people of Ukraine with the Independence Day on 24 August. This day is supposed to be a day of joy and celebration, but Ukraine and its people still have to fight for its independence and freedom", says Gunn Marit Helgesen, President of the Norwegian Association of Local and Regional Authorities.  

Today she sent a letter to her colleague in Ukraine, the president of Association of Ukrainian Cities (AUC), Vitaliy Klitschko. 

In the letter she writes: "We pay tribute to mayors, councillors and the staff of Ukrainian local and regional authorities who continue to meet the daily needs of citizens and address the disastrous humanitarian consequences of this terrible war. The current realities are hard and brutal, but we stand with you in the firm belief that your sacrifices will lead to the fulfilment of our common dream: a free Ukraine, a free Europe, and a free world."
